Our Minnesota made online marketplace is a one-of-a-kind in our local food world, and customers sometimes have questions. We answered them here. 

Q: The product listings aren't always consistent. Why not? 

A: Like Etsy, Ebay or Craigslist - all listings are created by the food makers and farmers personally. Some sellers have more experience than others. Sellers are always working to create more consistent listings with standardized weights, imagery and descriptions of packaging and distribution. If you are ever in any doubt, please reach out directly to the seller via their profile page, as linked to their product listing. 

Q: Am I in your delivery area?

Q: I'm confused about how to get my products. How does it work?

A: When you purchase by Midnight Friday, we deliver your order - via BrightSide Produce - on the next Sunday. The cost is just $5 per delivery. Really it's that easy!   

Q: What is F&E Markets? Are you like a grocery store? 

A: Yes & No, we are a pretty new kind of retail grocery thing. We don't hold any product or own any delivery vans, no warehouses either. All product listings are created by the food makers and farmers personally. Like an Etsy meets Instacart crossed with an Ebay and Craigslist.

A: We are owned and operated in St.Paul, MN and run by Libby Wyrum. One woman show more or less, but it's the farmers and food makers that really shine!

A: If you see it on the site and buy it - it will be delivered to your home. Most often on Sunday, but there are a few sellers who will provide your purchase at an alternate time. Typically, these sellers will reach out via email to set up that time with you.

A: Your sellers will make, bake, harvest or package your products to your order. These are all small-time businesses, albeit some full-time and some half-time. None the less, they put their pants on one leg at time, and you get a real person's exuberance, enegy and creativity in every product every time you order. Seriously this isn't big box, it's real deal. Each customer's order is delivered directly to our collation location and then delivered via BrightSide Produce.

Q: What is the cost to the customer?

A: The cost for delivery is just $5 per order.

Q: How does F&E support sellers? How are you different from the other restaurant and grocery delivery services in the Twin Cities? 

A: 94% of proceeds from all sales go directly to sellers, with 2.6% + $0.30 going to credit card processing fees. F&E charges a 6% commission, and this is substantially lower than the Grubhubs of the world (30% or more in some cities). The $5 delivery fee goes directly to support delivery via BrightSide Produce. 

Q: Is there a minimum order? 

A: No, we do not have a minimum order. 

Q: Is there a delivery charge?

A: Yes, there is a $5.00 delivery charge to cover the time for our delivery drivers and the cost of gas.

Q: When do I need to place my order?

You will need to submit your order by Midnight Friday to receive your order on Sunday late morning or early afternoon.

Q: When can I expect my order to arrive?

A: Your order will arrive between 11am-3pm on the Sunday after you place your order. Deliveries are only on Sunday currently. We are working to create a system where we notify customers when orders are out for delivery, and when we have posited orders on your doorstep. 

Q: Where will my order be dropped off?

A: Unless we hear differently from you, your order will be placed by your front door. In the event of inclimate weather, your order will be placed in the best possible spot and we will try to notify you of it’s location.

Q: How is my order packed?

A: Your order will be packed by F&E and BrightSide Produce team members the day of delivery. We are COVID cognizant and careful to take measures to ensure your packages are safe. We take care to be sure our staff are healthy, too. Your order will go into new compostable paper or plastic bags (when condensation is a concern). In situations where temperature control is required we include frozen gel packs. These gel packs can be returned to us at your next delivery. Please leave on your doorstep marked RETURN TO F&E. We aim to reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible. 

    Q: Who are your sellers?

    A: All our sellers are licensed in the State of Minnesota and/or in the City of Minneapolis. They adhere to rigorous sanitation protocols as dictated by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Department of Health, and are insured to $3 million dollars. All have committed to known standards of operation that reduce, limit or eliminate COVID-19 contagion and transmission, as outlined by the Federal Government's Center for Disease Control; along with state and local health authorities.
